Read the file content directly using the Google Drive file ID.

Automatic File Format Handling

The server intelligently processes different Google Workspace file types:

• 📝 Google Docs → Markdown

🚀 Quick Start

Prerequisites

• Node.js (v16 or higher)
• npm or yarn
• A Google Cloud project
• Google Workspace or a personal Google account

Detailed Google Cloud Setup

1. Create a Google Cloud project

   • Visit the Google Cloud Console
   • Click "New Project"
   • Enter a project name (e.g., "MCP GDrive Server")
   • Click "Create"
   • Wait for the project to be created and select it

2. Enable the Google Drive API

   • Go to the API Library
   • Search for "Google Drive API" and click "Enable"

3. Set up an OAuth 2.0 client ID

   • Navigate to the Credentials section
   • Click "Add Credentials" and select "OAuth 2.0 client ID"
   • Configure the project details and specify the redirect URI (e.g., urn:ietf:wg:oauth:2.0:oob)
   • Obtain the generated JSON key file and name it gcp-oauth.json

4. Install dependencies

   • Run the following command in the project root directory:

     npm install @google/drive --save
     

📦 Installation

Clone the repository and install the dependencies:

git clone https://github.com/your-repository/mcp-gdrive.git
cd mcp-gdrive
npm install

🔑 Authentication

Configure and run the authentication process as follows:

1. Create a config.json file and add your Google Cloud project ID and key path:

2. Run the following command in the terminal for authentication:

   npm run authenticate
   

   This will guide you through the OAuth 2.0 process to obtain the necessary access tokens.
