This MCP server offers a wide range of file system operations. You can use various functions to manage files and directories, perform editing and searching, conduct file analysis, execute batch operations, navigate projects, ensure code quality, and run shell commands.

✨ Features

File and Directory Operations

• ls(path) - List directory contents.
• cd(path) - Change the working directory (supports home directory expansion, e.g., ~).
• read_file(path) - Read the contents of a file.
• write_file(path, content) - Write content to a file.
• mkdir(path) - Create a directory.
• rm(path) - Delete a file or an empty directory.
• rmdir(path) - Recursively delete a directory and its contents.
• cp(src, dst) - Copy a file or directory.
• mv(src, dst) - Move a file or directory.

Editing and Searching

• edit_file(path, changes) - Perform multiple search/replace operations on a file, where changes is a list of tuples containing (search_text, replace_text).
• grep(pattern, path) - Search for a regular expression pattern in a file.

Analysis

• summary(path) - Generate summaries for Python (.py) and Markdown (.md) files:
  • Python: List functions and classes.
  • Markdown: List headings (lines starting with #).

Batch Operations

• read_files(paths) - Read multiple files and return a dictionary mapping paths to contents.
• summarize(paths) - Generate summaries for multiple files and return a dictionary mapping paths to summaries.

Project Navigation

• work_on(path) - Switch to a directory, list its contents, and retrieve notes from CLAUDE.md. This is used to familiarize yourself with a project when starting a conversation.

Code Quality

• ruff_check(paths) - Run the Ruff code checking tool on specified files.
• ruff_format(paths) - Format files using Ruff.

Command Execution

• shell_command(command, args=None, cmdline=None, timeout=30) - Execute a shell command and capture the output.

⚠️ Important Note

This tool allows the execution of arbitrary commands on the host system. Always check and validate commands, especially before allowing them to run, if the input source is untrusted.
