A server based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) that uses the AviationStack API to provide real-time flight tracking and status information.

This MCP server is designed to offer real - time flight tracking and status information. It uses the AviationStack API and adheres to the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

This MCP server offers three main functions:

1. Get Flight Data: Retrieve detailed information about a specific flight using its IATA or ICAO code.
2. Search Flights: Search for flights based on multiple criteria such as airline, departure/arrival airport, and status.
3. Get Flight Status: Generate an easy - to - understand status summary for a specific flight.

📦 Installation

Installation via Smithery

To automatically install the flightradar - mcp - server via Smithery (for Claude Desktop):

npx -y @smithery/cli install @Cyreslab-AI/flightradar-mcp-server --client claude

Prerequisites

• Node.js (v14 or higher)
• npm (v6 or higher)
• An AviationStack API key (obtainable at aviationstack.com)

Setup

1. Clone this repository:

   git clone https://github.com/Cyreslab-AI/flightradar-mcp-server.git
   cd flightradar-mcp-server
   

2. Install dependencies:

   npm install
   

3. Build the server:

   npm run build
   

4. Configure the server in your MCP settings file: For the Claude VSCode extension, add to ~/Library/Application Support/Code/User/globalStorage/saoudrizwan.claude-dev/settings/cline_mcp_settings.json:

Basic Usage

Get Flight Data

Retrieve detailed information about a specific flight using its IATA or ICAO code:

📚 Documentation

API Key Configuration

This server requires an AviationStack API key to run. You can obtain a free key (100 requests per month) at aviationstack.com. The API key should be provided as an environment variable named AVIATIONSTACK_API_KEY in the MCP settings configuration.
