This server offers location data sourced from a local macOS application. It's designed to work seamlessly with Claude Desktop, enabling you to use the getCurrentLocation tool in your conversations.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• macOS (This package launches a macOS application)
• Node.js 16 or higher

Installation Steps

Install the package globally:

npm install -g @sokyran/location-mcp-server

Or run it directly:

npx @sokyran/location-mcp-server

💻 Usage Examples

Using with Claude Desktop

1. Download location-getter-agent.app and place it in the same directory as the command you're running.
2. Edit your Claude Desktop configuration file:

3. Restart Claude Desktop.
4. You can now use the getCurrentLocation tool in your conversations with Claude.

Build and Run Instructions

1. Use Xcode to build location-getter.
2. In Xcode, go to Product -> Show Build Folder in Finder.
3. Locate Products/Debug/location-getter-agent.app and copy it to the same folder as index.ts.
4. Run the following commands:

npm i
npm run build
npm run start

🔧 Technical Details

How It Works

1. The server starts location-getter-agent.app (which must be in the current directory).
2. It waits for the application to start its HTTP server on port 8080.
3. It exposes a getCurrentLocation tool to Claude.
4. When called, it fetches location data from the local application and returns it.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

• Ensure that location-getter-agent.app is in the same directory as the command you're running.
• If you encounter permission errors, allow the application in System Settings > Security & Privacy.
• Check that port 8080 is not being used by another application.
