🚀 Time MCP

A simple Model Control Protocol (MCP) server that offers time and timezone conversion tools.

✨ Features

The server provides the following tools:

1. get_current_time

Retrieve the current time in a specific timezone or the system timezone.

Parameters:

• timezone (string, optional): The timezone for which to get the current time. If not provided, the system timezone is used by default.

Example response:

The current time in Europe/Warsaw is: 2025-04-09 15:30:45

2. convert_time

Convert time between different timezones.

Parameters:

• source_timezone (string, optional): The source timezone. If not provided, the system timezone is used by default.
• time (string, optional): Time in 24-hour format (HH:MM). If not provided, the current time is used by default.
• target_timezone (string, required): The target timezone to convert to.

Example response:

Time conversion: 15:30 in Europe/Warsaw → 09:30 in America/New_York

Use with an MCP-compatible client

This server implements the Model Control Protocol, which means it can be used with any MCP-compatible client. The client will be able to:

1. Discover available tools
2. Invoke tools with appropriate parameters
3. Receive formatted responses

🔧 Technical Details

Dependencies

• github.com/mark3labs/mcp-go: An implementation of the Model Control Protocol.
• github.com/araddon/dateparse: A flexible date parsing library.

Supported Timezones

The server supports all IANA timezone database entries, for example:

• Europe/Warsaw
• America/New_York
• Asia/Tokyo
• Australia/Sydney
• Africa/Cairo
• etc.
