🚀 Weather Bot with OpenAI Agent SDK

A Telegram bot that uses OpenAI's Agent SDK and Model Context Protocol (MCP) to provide real-time weather information. This bot can obtain the current weather conditions of any city around the world through natural language queries, powered by the GPT-4o-mini model.

🚀 Quick Start

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/esakrissa/agents-sdk-telegram.git
cd agents-sdk-telegram

2. Create and activate a virtual environment:

python -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate  # For Windows users, use: venv\Scripts\activate

3. Install the dependencies:

pip install -r requirements.txt

4. Create a .env file in the project root directory:

TELEGRAM_BOT_TOKEN=Your Telegram bot token
OPENAI_API_KEY=Your OpenAI API key

5. Run the bot:

python main.py

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

Just send a message to the bot asking about the weather in any city:

What's the weather like in Ubud?

The bot will reply with the current weather conditions, including:

• Temperature
• Weather condition description
• Wind speed

OpenAI Agent SDK Integration

The bot uses OpenAI's Agent SDK and the GPT-4o-mini model to process natural language queries and generate human-readable responses. The agent processes weather-related queries according to instructions and maintains the conversation context.

The project implements a simple MCP server (weather_mcp.py), providing the get_weather tool. This demonstrates how to:
