🚀 Google Drive Server

This MCP server integrates with Google Drive, enabling file listing, reading, and searching.

🚀 Quick Start

Prerequisites

1. Create a new Google Cloud project.
2. Enable the Google Drive API.
3. Configure the OAuth consent screen (set it to "Internal" for testing).
4. Add the OAuth scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.readonly.
5. Create an OAuth client ID for the "Desktop app" application type.
6. Download the client's OAuth key file as a JSON file.
7. Rename the key file to gcp-oauth.keys.json and place it in the root directory of the current repository (e.g., servers/gcp-oauth.keys.json).

Ensure you build the project using npm run build or npm run watch.

Authentication

To authenticate and save the credentials:

1. Run the server with the auth parameter: node ./dist auth.
2. Open the authentication process in the browser system session.
3. Complete the authentication process.
4. The credentials will be saved in the root directory of the current repository (e.g., servers/.gdrive-server-credentials.json).

Integration with Desktop Applications

To use this server in a desktop application, add it to the application's server configuration:

Authentication:

Assuming you have set up the OAuth application on Google Cloud, you can authenticate the server using the following command. Replace /path/to/gcp-oauth.keys.json with the actual path to the key file:

docker run -i --rm --mount type=bind,source=/path/to/gcp-oauth.keys.json,target=/gcp-oauth.keys.json -v mcp-gdrive:/gdrive-server -e GDRIVE_OAUTH_PATH=/gcp-oauth.keys.json -e "GDRIVE_CREDENTIALS_PATH=/gdrive-server/credentials.json" -p 3000:3000 mcp/gdrive auth

The command will output a URL to open in the browser. Complete the authentication process in the browser. The credentials will be saved in the mcp-gdrive volume.

Once authenticated, you can use the following in your application's server configuration:

You can directly run the JavaScript file:

Tools

  • Search for files in Google Drive.
  • Input: query (string): The search query.
  • Returns the names and MIME types of the matching files.

Resources

The server provides access to Google Drive files:

• Files (gdrive:///<file_id>)
  • Supports all file types.
  • Automatically exports Google Workspace files:
    • Documents → Markdown
    • Spreadsheets → CSV
    • Presentations → Plain text
    • Drawings → PNG
  • Other files are provided in their native formats.
