This server provides a clean interface to Business Central resources via the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and improves performance by optimizing HTTP request handling.

Tools

The server implements the following tools:

• BC_Get_Schema: Retrieve the schema of any Business Central entity, including available fields.
• BC_List_Items: Get a list of entities, supporting optional filtering and pagination.
• BC_Get_Items_By_Field: Search for entities based on a specific field value.
• BC_Create_Item: Create a new entity record in Business Central.
• BC_Update_Item: Update an existing entity record.
• BC_Delete_Item: Delete an entity record from Business Central.

💻 Usage with Business Central Entities

This server can handle any entity in Business Central. When using the tools, you must provide the entity name as it appears in the Business Central API. For example:

• Employees
• Customers
• Items
• Vendors
• SalesOrders
• Payments

Entity names are case-sensitive and must exactly match the names exposed by Business Central.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

python setup.py install

🚀 Quick Start

Start the Server

uvicorn business_central.mcp_server:app --reload

🔌 Integration with Claude Desktop

Standard Integration

Add the following to your config.json file:

🛠️ Development

Requirements

• Python 3.8 or higher
• requests library
• uvicorn (optional, for debugging)

Local Development

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/xxx/mcp-business-central-server.git
cd mcp-business-central-server

2. Install dependencies:

pip install -r requirements.txt

3. Start the server (optional debug mode):

uvicorn business_central.mcp_server:app --reload

Debugging

Use the following command to view logs and error messages:

python -m business_central.mcp_server
