🚀 MCP Host Project

This project demonstrates how to integrate Spring AI's support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) in a Spring Boot application, covering both server-side and client-side implementations.

🚀 Quick Start

Prerequisites

• You must use a model that supports TOOLS. We are using Llama3.2 provided through Ollama.

Steps to Run the Project

1. Start the Geocoding Service:

   cd geocoder
   mvn spring-boot:run
   

2. Start the Time Zone Service:

   cd timezone
   mvn spring-boot:run
   

3. Start the MCP Host:

   cd mcp-host
   mvn spring-boot:run
   

How to Use

1. Interact with the MCP Host:
   • Run the MCP host application.
   • Enter the name of a city in the console.
   • The system will provide the latitude, longitude, and time zone information for the entered city.

MCP

MCP is a standard designed to simplify the management of AI model context interactions, enabling consistent integration with external data sources and tools.
Spring AI MCP extends the MCP Java SDK and provides client and server-side starters specifically for Spring Boot.

The MCP client is responsible for handling communication and connection management with the MCP server.
In this project, we use Spring AI to build an MCP server and make its functionality available to large language models (LLMs).

📦 Modules

This project consists of three main modules:

Geocoding Service

• Port: 8081
• Description: Provides latitude and longitude based on the city name.

MCP Host

• Description: Uses the geocoding and time zone services through the MCP client and provides a console interface to interact with the LLM.
