What is the Shortcut MCP Server?

This is an intermediate service that connects AI assistants (such as Claude) with the Shortcut.com project management system. Through the standard protocol (MCP), AI can directly read and manipulate task cards, projects, and workflow statuses in Shortcut.

How to use the Shortcut MCP service?

Simply configure the API key and start the service, and the AI assistant can automatically discover and use Shortcut functions. It supports querying task status or creating new tasks through natural language.

Applicable scenarios

Suitable for teams that need to frequently view/update task statuses, especially scenarios where natural language is used to interact with project management tools. Typical use cases include: daily stand-up meeting preparation, defect tracking, requirement collection, etc.

Main features

Task card management
Supports complete CRUD operations: Create, Read, Update, Delete task cards
Intelligent search
Search for tasks through natural language, such as 'Show urgent defects created last week'
Pre-made templates
Built-in standard templates for defect reports and requirement applications to ensure information integrity
Comment system
AI can directly add progress comments or discussion records in task cards
Advantages
No need to manually switch tools, directly operate Shortcut in the chat interface
Supports natural language interaction, reducing the usage threshold
Automatically keeps task update records, improving traceability
Limitations
Requires Shortcut.com enterprise account permissions
Complex queries may be limited by AI understanding ability
Technical knowledge is required for the initial configuration

How to use

Get the API key
Log in to the Shortcut.com account settings page and generate a dedicated API token
Configure the service
Fill the key into the.env configuration file or directly provide it to Claude Desktop
Start the service
Run the server program and ensure network accessibility
Connect the AI assistant
Add MCP server information in the Claude configuration and restart for it to take effect

Usage examples

Morning meeting preparation
Automatically summarize team members' task progress before daily stand-up meetings
Defect report
Directly create a standardized defect report through dialogue
Requirement collection
Automatically convert customer conversations into requirement cards
