📦 Installation

1. Books MCP Server Installation

cd books-mcp-server
npm install
npm run build

2. Books Mock Service Installation

cd books-mock-service
npm install
npm run dev

3. MCP Client Installation

cd mcp-client
# Create and activate a virtual environment (recommended)
python -m venv .venv
source .venv/bin/activate  # On Windows: .venv\Scripts\activate
# Install dependencies (requires requirements.txt file)
pip install langchain-ollama mcp-use

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

1. Run the mock service:

cd books-mock-service
npm run dev

2. Run the client in a new terminal:

cd mcp-client
python client.py

3. Enter the prompted query. Type 'exit' to quit.

Components

1. Books MCP Server

A TypeScript-based MCP server responsible for handling the communication protocol between the client and the mock service.

• Built with TypeScript for type safety.
• Implements MCP using @modelcontextprotocol/sdk.
• Runs on the stdio transport layer.

2. Books Mock Service

A simple Express.js server that simulates a book data service.

• Provides mock endpoints for book-related operations.
• Built with Express.js.
• Lightweight and easy to extend.

3. MCP Client

A Python-based client that integrates with the language model using the MCP protocol.

• Integrates with LLM using langchain_ollama.
• Implements MCPAgent to handle queries.
• Provides an interactive CLI interface.

🔧 Technical Details

• The MCP server is built with TypeScript. After making changes in the src directory, use npm run build to rebuild.
• The mock service can be extended by adding new routes to server.js.
• The client's LLM configuration in client.py can be modified as needed.
