🚀 macOS MCP Server Usage

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) server is written in Swift. It allows you to control macOS applications via the Accessibility API, mainly implemented with the MacosUseSDK.

You can use it with Claude Desktop or other compatible MCP clients.

The server listens for MCP commands through standard input/output (stdio) and provides various tools to interact with applications.

📦 Available Tools

Through the CallTool MCP method, the server offers the following tools:

1. macos-use_open_application_and_traverse

   • Description: Open or activate a specified application and then traverse its accessibility tree.
   • Parameters:
     • identifier (String, required): The name, bundle ID, or file path of the application.

2. macos-use_click_and_traverse

   • Description: Simulate a mouse click at specific coordinates within the window of the target application (identified by PID) and then traverse its accessibility tree.
   • Parameters:
     • pid (Number, required): The process ID (PID) of the target application.
     • x (Number, required): The X-coordinate of the click (relative to the window/screen, depending on the SDK behavior).
     • y (Number, required): The Y-coordinate of the click.

3. macos-use_type_and_traverse

   • Description: Simulate text input in the target application (identified by PID) and then traverse its accessibility tree.
   • Parameters:
     • pid (Number, required): The process ID (PID) of the target application.
     • text (String, required): The text to be input.

4. macos-use_click_and_traverse

   • Description: Simulate a mouse click at specific coordinates within the window of the target application (identified by PID) and then traverse its accessibility tree.
   • Parameters:
     • pid (Number, required): The process ID (PID) of the target application.
     • x (Number, required): The X-coordinate of the click (relative to the window/screen, depending on the SDK behavior).
     • y (Number, required): The Y-coordinate of the click.

📚 Dependencies

• MacosUseSDK: A local or external Swift package for interacting with macOS applications.

📦 Installation

Build and Run

To build and run the server, execute the following commands:

swift build

Then run:

./mcp-server-macos-use/.build/debug/mcp-server-macos-use

Integration Example

To specify the location of the MCP server in the configuration file, for example, for Claude Desktop:
