🚀 MCP Fetch Tool

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for scraping web content and processing images. This enables Claude Desktop (or other MCP clients) to fetch web content and handle images appropriately.

🚀 Quick Start (For Users)

To use this tool in Claude Desktop, add the following to your configuration file (~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json):

This will automatically download and run the latest version of the tool when needed.

⚙️ Necessary Settings

1. Enable Claude's accessibility features:
   • Open System Settings.
   • Go to "Privacy & Security" > "Accessibility".
   • Click the "+" button.
   • Add Claude from the Applications folder.
   • Turn on the Claude toggle switch.

This accessibility setting is necessary for clipboard operations (Cmd+V) to work correctly.

The following section is for those who wish to develop or modify the tool.

📋 Prerequisites

• Node.js 18+
• macOS (for clipboard operations)
• Claude Desktop (installed from https://claude.ai/desktop)
• tsx (installed via npm install -g tsx)

📦 Installation Methods

Install via Smithery

To automatically install the MCP Fetch Tool via Smithery:

npx -y @smithery/cli install @kazuph/mcp-fetch --client claude

Manual Installation

🖼️ Image Processing Specifications

When processing images from web content, the following limitations will apply:

• A maximum of 6 images per group.
• A maximum height of 8000 pixels per group.
• A maximum size of 30MB per group.

If the content exceeds these limits, the images will be automatically divided into multiple groups, and you will need to paste (Cmd+V) multiple times.

⚙️ Configuration Steps

1. Ensure that Claude Desktop is installed and running.

2. If not already installed, globally install tsx:

npm install -g tsx

pnpm add -g tsx

3. Modify your Claude Desktop configuration file located at: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

You can easily find this file by following these steps:

1. Open Claude Desktop.
2. Click "Claude" in the menu bar.
3. Select "Settings".
4. Click "Developer".

Add the following to your MCP client configuration:

💻 Available Tools

• fetch: Fetch URLs from the internet and extract their content in Markdown format. Images are automatically processed and ready to be pasted into the clipboard.

⚠️ Important Notes

• This tool is designed specifically for macOS due to its reliance on macOS-specific clipboard operations.
• Images are processed using the Sharp library for optimal performance and quality.
• When multiple images are found, they are vertically arranged into groups of up to 6 and automatically resized to fit the screen.
• For GIF animations, only the first frame is extracted for processing.
