What is the MCP Python Bridge?

This plugin implements the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server in Unreal Engine, allowing AI agents to access and control UE through Python scripts. It bridges between Claude (or other MCP-compatible AI) and Unreal Engine's Python API.

How does it work?

The plugin creates a local server that listens for commands from the AI agent. When you run a prompt in Claude, it sends Python commands through MCP which are executed in Unreal Engine.

Use Cases

Ideal for automating repetitive tasks, generating content procedurally, or getting AI assistance with Unreal Engine development workflows.

Key Features

Full UE Python API Access
Provides complete access to Unreal Engine's Python API through MCP protocol
Prebuilt Prompts
Includes ready-to-use prompts like 'create_castle' that demonstrate common automation tasks
Custom Tool Development
Easily create new tools and prompts that appear in Claude's interface
Advantages
Enables AI-assisted Unreal Engine development
Reduces repetitive manual work through automation
Extensible through custom Python tools and prompts
Works with any MCP-compatible AI agent
Limitations
Requires basic Python knowledge for advanced customization
Need to restart Claude after modifying tools
Windows users may need to manually kill Claude process

Getting Started

Install the Plugin
Install from Fab store or clone from GitHub into your project's Plugins folder
Configure Claude
Add the MCP server configuration to claude_desktop_config.json with path to unreal_mcp_client.py
Enable and Start
Enable the plugin in UE Editor and click 'Start MCP Bridge' button
Connect Claude
In Claude desktop app, click 'Attach from MCP' plug icon and select integration

Example Use Cases

Scene Generation
Automatically generate complete scenes using basic shapes
Asset Processing
Batch process assets in Content Browser
