The Roblox Studio MCP Server is an independently implemented server that adheres to the Model Context Protocol specification. It is specifically designed for integration with Roblox Studio and Large Language Models (LLMs). It simplifies the implementation of seamless, secure, and scriptable AI-driven workflows in Roblox Studio through a unified protocol.

🚀 Quick Start

Prerequisites

• Node.js 18 or higher (Node.js 20+ is recommended).
• Roblox Studio installed (Windows only; see the instructions below for path configuration).
• npm (bundled with Node.js).

Run with npx

npx roblex-mcp

• When starting for the first time, MCP will automatically start and attempt to open Roblox Studio.
• If your Roblox Studio is not in the standard location, set ROBLOX_STUDIO_PATH in the .env file or system environment variables.

Environment Configuration

Copy and edit the example environment file:

cp .env.example .env

Edit the .env file as needed (see the instructions below for ROBLOX_STUDIO_PATH).

📚 Roblox Open Cloud API Key Setup

To enable automated scripts and asset management, a valid Roblox Open Cloud API key must be provided.

1. Visit the Roblox Open Cloud Console.
2. Follow the instructions to create and obtain an API key.

Add the generated key to your .env file, for example:

ROBLOX_API_KEY=your_api_key_here

Installation and Running

Clone the Project

git clone https://github.com/dmae97/roblex-studio-mcp-server.git
cd roblex-studio-mcp-server

Install Dependencies

npm install

Build the Project

npm run build

Start the Service

npm start

Environment Variable Configuration

Create or edit the .env file and add the following content:

ROBLOX_API_KEY=your_api_key_here
ROBLOX_STUDIO_PATH=path_to_robx_studio

Replace path_to_robx_studio with the actual installation path of Roblox Studio.
