This project demonstrates how to build an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server using the Go language, offering a great learning resource for Go enthusiasts and those curious about the MCP protocol.

🚀 Quick Start

Clone the repository

git clone https://github.com/your-username/hello-mcp-go.git
cd hello-mcp

Install dependencies

go mod tidy

Build the project

On Windows:

go build -ldflags="-s -w" -o server.exe main.go

On Linux:

go build -ldflags="-s -w" -o server main.go

After that, you can use it in Visual Studio Code.

Run the server

./server

Consume the server using GitHub Copilot Agent mode

1. Open the mcp.json file and make sure the server has been built (it's now adjusted).
2. Adjust the "command" to point to the absolute path of your executable:

3. Open Copilot and select Agent mode.
4. Click the play icon. You should see the tool icons displaying two tools.
5. Test with a phrase like "calculate 2 and 4". This should display a button to invoke the tool on the server.

• The hello command, which accepts the parameters Submitter and Content.
