The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that allows developers to establish a secure two - way connection between their data sources and AI tools. The architecture is straightforward: developers can expose their data through an MCP server or build AI applications (MCP clients) to connect to these servers.

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

In this example, we'll create a simple Spring Boot application as an MCP server.

1. Create a Spring Boot Application

Use Spring Initializr or another preferred method to create a new Spring Boot application. Make sure to include the following dependency:

Create a Record Class

Create a record class that represents the information to be exposed through the MCP server.

Create a Service Class

Create a service class that provides the information to be exposed on the MCP server.

Create a Tool Callback

In the SpringMCPApplication or the main application class, create a tool callback to handle MCP server requests.

Add Configuration

Create a configuration class to configure the MCP server.

2. Build the Application

Run the following command to build the application:

mvn clean package -DskipTests

3. Further Configuration

To use the MCP server, add the following configuration to claude_desktop_config.json:

4. Test the MCP Server

After configuration, you can test the MCP server in Claude Desktop. Add the following content to the config.json file:

After starting the server, you can use it in Claude Desktop.
