What is MCP GraphQL Forge?

MCP GraphQL Forge is a lightweight server that allows you to convert any GraphQL endpoint into an MCP server through a simple YAML configuration file. It provides a secure and modular way to manage and expose GraphQL queries as tools without modifying application code.

How to use MCP GraphQL Forge?

You only need to configure the YAML file to define GraphQL queries and parameters, and then start the server. The server will automatically expose these queries as MCP tools for agents to use.

Use cases

MCP GraphQL Forge is an ideal choice when you need to provide structured API access capabilities for agents while maintaining security and flexibility. It is particularly suitable for AI agent systems that need to interact with multiple GraphQL APIs.

Main features

Configuration-driven
Define tools through YAML files and extend functionality without writing code
GraphQL integration
Easily convert any GraphQL API into an MCP tool
Modular tools
Each query is an independent tool that can be configured and updated separately
Token management
Support obtaining Bearer tokens through commands for authentication
Advantages
Simple configuration. New tools can be defined through YAML files.
Lightweight, focusing on providing a minimal but fully functional MCP server.
Support dynamic token acquisition to improve security.
Modular design, easy to expand and maintain.
Limitations
Each instance can only connect to one GraphQL server.
All requests use the same authorization token.
Currently only supports Tools and not Resources.
Debugging information is relatively basic.

How to use

Install the server
Download the latest version of the server from the GitHub release page
Create a configuration file
Create a forge.yaml file in the configuration directory and specify the server name, version, and GraphQL endpoint URL
Define tools
Create a YAML file for each required GraphQL query and define the query and input parameters
Configure authentication
If authentication is required, set the token_command to obtain a Bearer token
Start the server
Set environment variables and start the server

Usage examples

GitHub user query
Query basic user information through the GitHub GraphQL API
Repository information query
Query the star count and description of a GitHub repository
