A tool for automatically generating typed MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers for any deployed smart contract.

This project offers a chain-agnostic tool that can automatically generate MCP servers from smart contract artifacts (ABI, IDL, etc.). The generated servers expose the functionality of smart contracts as tools for large language models (LLMs) through the Model Context Protocol.

What is MCP?

Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open protocol designed to standardize how applications provide context to large language models. It enables LLMs to securely access tools and data sources through a standard interface.

MCP adopts a client-server architecture:

• MCP Host: Such as Claude Desktop, IDE, or AI tools that want to access data via MCP.
• MCP Client: A protocol client that maintains a 1:1 connection with the server.
• MCP Server: A lightweight program that exposes specific functionality through the standardized Model Context Protocol.

Testing

This project includes end-to-end tests to verify the correct interaction between the generated MCP server and the MCP Inspector.

Running Tests

# Current command for testing
go run cmd/generate-mcp/main.go -a examples/erc20.json --name "ERC20 Token" --address 0xA0b86991c6218b36c1d19D4a2e9Eb0cE3606eB48

# Enter the test directory
cd mcp-tests

# Install dependencies
npm install

# Execute tests
./run-tests.sh

The tests use Playwright to automate interactions with the MCP Inspector UI and verify the following:

1. The MCP server connects successfully.
2. All tools are listed correctly.
3. Each tool can be executed with valid parameters.
4. Error handling works as expected.
