📦 Installation

Prerequisites

Node.js 18 or higher.
Anytype desktop application running locally.
An Anytype account.

Manual Installation

Clone this repository:

git clone https://github.com/Qwinty/anytype-mcp.git
cd anytype-mcp

Install dependencies:

npm install

Build the project (compile TypeScript to JavaScript in the build/ directory):

npm run build

Get an App Key: Before configuring the server, you need to obtain an App Key from Anytype. Refer to the "Get an App Key" section below.
Add the MCP server to your MCP configuration file.

Get an App Key

Run the npm run get-key script to get a new App Key, update it in your MCP configuration, and then restart your MCP client.

💻 Usage Examples

Anytype API Not Responding

Ensure that the Anytype desktop application is running. The MCP server connects to the local Anytype API at http://localhost:31009/v1.

Authentication Issues

If you encounter authentication errors:

Run npm run get-key to get a new App Key.
Update the new key in your MCP configuration file.
Restart your MCP client.

Local API Port

By default, the server connects to the Anytype API at http://localhost:31009/v1. If your Anytype installation uses a different port, you need to modify the apiBaseUrl variable in src/index.ts and rebuild the project (run npm run build). Configuring this property via environment variables is a potential future feature improvement.
