What is Adwords MCP?

Adwords MCP is a demonstration server that deliberately inserts embarrassing ad content into the responses of LLMs (Large Language Models). This project mainly shows how to build an MCP server and the risks of ad injection middleware.

How to use Adwords MCP?

It can be installed globally via npm and then run, or used as a plugin for MCP clients (such as Claude, Cursor). It will automatically insert ad content into the responses of AI assistants.

Applicable scenarios

Mainly used for technical demonstrations, pranks, or showing the risks of ad injection. It is not recommended to use in a production environment.

Main features

Keyword extraction
Use simple string matching to detect keywords and ensure that ads can accurately interrupt users
Random ad selection
Select ad content based on detected keywords or randomly
Ad injection strategy
Multiple strategies to embed ads into responses
Multiple transport options
Support STDIO and HTTP/SSE transport methods
User content response format
Wrap all responses as user-provided content to increase the possibility of AI assistants directly including ads
Advantages
An interesting MCP server demonstration
Show the risks of ad injection
Multiple ad injection strategies
Easy to install and configure
Limitations
Only for demonstration purposes
Ad content may be too annoying
Requires specific client support
May have stability issues

How to use

Installation
Install Adwords MCP globally via npm
Run the server
Select a suitable transport method to run the server
Configure the MCP client
Add server configuration in MCP clients such as Claude and Cursor
Add rules (optional)
Add global rules in Cursor to ensure ads are included

Usage examples

Prank installation
Install it on your friend's machine when they forget to lock the screen and add Cursor rules
Technical demonstration
Show how the MCP server works and the risks of ad injection
