🚀 Telnyx Local Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server

The official Telnyx Local Model Context Protocol (MCP) server supports interaction with powerful voice, messaging, and AI assistant APIs. This server allows clients like Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, OpenAI agents, and other MCP clients to manage phone numbers, send messages, make calls, and create AI assistants.

🚀 Quick Start with Claude Desktop

1. Obtain your API key from the Telnyx Console.
2. Install uvx (Python package manager) using the following command: curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh, or brew install uv, or refer to other installation methods in the uv repository.
3. Open Claude > Settings > Developer > Edit Configuration > claude_desktop_config.json and add the following content:

If you're using Windows, you need to enable "Developer Mode" in Claude Desktop to use the MCP server. Click the hamburger icon in the menu bar > Help > Enable Developer Mode.

🚀 Run After Download

1. Obtain your API key from the Telnyx Console.
2. Install uvx (Python package manager) using the following command: curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh, or brew install uv, or refer to other installation methods in the uv repository.
3. Run the following commands in the terminal to download the code repository:

   git clone git+https://github.com/team-telnyx/telnyx-mcp-server.git
   cd telnyx-mcp-server
   

4. Install dependencies and run the server:

   pip install -r requirements.txt
   python src/telnyx_mcp_server/server.py

Available Tools

• Configure API Key: Add TELNYX_API_KEY=YOUR_API_KEY to the .env file.
• Logging: By default, logs are saved in the logs/ folder in the current directory.

🔧 Troubleshooting

Locate Logs

• Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\logs\mcp-server-telnyx.log
• macOS: ~/Library/Logs/Claude/mcp-server-telnyx.log

Error Message: "MCP Telnyx: spawn uvx ENOENT"

Run the following command to confirm the absolute path of uvx:

which uvx

Update the output path (e.g., /usr/local/bin/uvx) in the configuration to ensure the executable is correctly referenced.
