🚀 AWS Cognito MCP Server

An implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that connects to AWS Cognito for authentication and user management. This server offers a set of tools to handle user authentication processes, including registration, login, password management, etc.

🚀 Quick Start

Prerequisites

• An AWS account with a configured Cognito user pool.
• Node.js 18 or higher.

📦 Installation

# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/yourusername/mcp-server-aws-cognito.git

# Install dependencies
cd mcp-server-aws-cognito
npm install

# Build the server
npm run build

AWS Cognito Configuration

1. Log in to the AWS console and navigate to Amazon Cognito.
2. Create a new user pool or use an existing one.
3. Note down your user pool ID and app client ID.
4. Set these values as environment variables or in the .env file (only required when using Claude Code, not Claude Desktop):

AWS_COGNITO_USER_POOL_ID=your-user-pool-id
AWS_COGNITO_USER_POOL_CLIENT_ID=your-app-client-id

The Inspector provides a URL to access the debugging tools in the browser.

Using with Claude Desktop

Before you start, make sure Node.js is installed (only for npx).

1. Go to: Settings > Developer > Edit Configuration.
2. Add the following to your claude_desktop_config.json:

Using with Claude Code

The command-line interface of Claude Code provides the following commands:

• claude add mcp-server: Add a new MCP server.
• claude update mcp-server: Update the configuration of an existing MCP server.
• claude remove mcp-server: Delete the MCP server configuration.

🔧 Technical Details

• npm run dev: Run the server in development mode (auto-rebuild).
• npm run build: Build for the production environment.
• npm start: Start the server in the production environment.
• npm install: Install project dependencies.
