🚀 Notion MCP Integration

A simple Model Context Protocol (MCP) server integrated with Notion's API to manage my personal to - do list via Claude. This implementation is tailored for my minimalist Notion to - do list.

This project is based on danhilse/notion_mcp and is provided under the MIT license.

🚀 Quick Start

This project is a personal one, designed for a very specific use - case: my simple Notion to - do list, which contains four properties:

• Task (Title)
• Checkbox (Mark as completed)
• Description (Extra details)
• Link (URL or reference)

Example Notion Database

Although you can use this as a starting point for your Notion integration, you may need to modify the code according to your database structure and requirements.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Python 3.10 or higher
• A Notion account
• A Notion API key
• A Notion database that matches the above structure (or modify the code to fit your structure)

Setup Steps

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/yourusername/notion-mcp.git
cd notion-mcp

2. Set up the Python environment:

python -m venv .venv
source .venv/bin/activate  # For Windows: .venv\Scripts\activate
pip install -e .

3. Create a Notion integration:

   • Visit https://www.notion.so/my-integrations
   • Create a new integration
   • Copy the API key

4. Share the integration with your database:

   • Open your to - do database
   • Click the "..." menu → "Add connection"
   • Select your integration

5. Create a .env file:

NOTION_API_KEY=your-api-key-here
NOTION_DATABASE_ID=your-database-id-here

6. Configure Claude Desktop:

💻 Usage Examples

Running the Server

The server can be run in two ways:

Basic Usage

Run directly from the command line:

# In the project directory, with the virtual environment activated
python -m notion_mcp

Advanced Usage

Automatically through Claude Desktop (recommended):

• If configured correctly, the server will start when Claude is launched.
• Refer to Claude Documentation for detailed information.

Usage Instructions

• Create a database containing to - do items in Notion and ensure it matches your .env configuration.
• Start the server, then call the MCP interface via Claude to manage your to - do items.

• This project currently only supports basic CRUD operations.
• Please extend the functionality according to your needs.
• If there are errors or issues, check the logs or re - examine the configuration.
