🚀 Simple Weather MCP Server Example (Based on Quickstart)

This is an example server for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) implemented in Node.js, used to access weather information in the United States.

This is an example explained in the MCP Quickstart. It is hosted as an npm package for easy use with npx.

Using Claude Desktop

Merge the following JSON snippet into your claude_desktop_config.json file. Refer to the "Test Your Server with Claude for Desktop" section in the MCP Quickstart for detailed information.

💻 Usage Examples

Tools

• get-alerts
  • Retrieve weather alert information for a U.S. state.
  • Input: state (string): Two-letter U.S. state code (e.g., CA, NY).
• get-forecast
  • Get the weather forecast for a location in the United States.
  • Input:
    • latitude (number): The latitude of the location.
    • longitude (number): The longitude of the location.

Example Queries

• What's the weather like in Palo Alto tomorrow?
• Are there any weather alerts in California?
