📦 Installation

For Claude users, you can install the MCP server via the following configuration file:

You need to replace the following content with actual values:

• USEFULNAME: Replace it with a meaningful server name for you (e.g., patentsafe).
• PATENTSAFE_BASE_URL: Replace it with the base URL of your PatentSafe instance (e.g., https://demo.morescience.com).
• PATENTSAFE_AUTH_TOKEN: Replace it with the PatentSafe authentication token obtained from your user settings.

🔧 Technical Details

How it Works (and Debugging)

The MCP server performs raw Lucene queries on the PatentSafe database, which users typically don't do. If you need to perform Lucene queries, use the following URL:

Limitations

Our initial tests indicate that PatentSafe may return more documents than an LLM can handle. Therefore, a --max-chars flag is provided by default to limit the number of returned characters (default is 500k).

This implementation is still in development. It works for us and should work for you, but it's not yet production-ready and is actively being developed.

Future Work

• Add support for metadata fields.
• Natively integrate the MCO server into PatentSafe (if this is the direction of client development).
