Project Structure

This project is a Cloudflare Worker, containing the following key components:

• The MCP server implementation is located in src/index.ts.
• The application logic is in src/app.ts.
• Utility functions are in src/utils.ts.
• Static resources are in the static/ directory.

📦 Installation

Local Development

# Clone the repository
git clone git@github.com:cloudflare/ai.git

# Install dependencies
cd ai
npm install

# Run locally
npx wrangler dev

You should be able to open http://localhost:8787/ in your browser.

💻 Usage Examples

Connect the MCP Inspector to Your Server

To explore the new MCP API, you can use the MCP Inspector.

• Start it using npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector.
• Inside the inspector (http://localhost:5173), switch the transport type to SSE, enter http://localhost:8787/sse as the URL of the MCP server, and then click "Connect".
• You'll enter a (simulated) user/password login page. Enter any email and password to log in.
• You should be redirected back to the MCP inspector and can list and call any defined tools!

Connect Claude Desktop to the Local MCP Server

The MCP inspector is great, but we really want to connect it to Claude! Please follow Anthropic's Quick Start Guide and go to Settings > Developer > Edit Configuration in Claude Desktop to find your configuration file.

Open the file in a text editor and replace it with the following:

In this way, Claude can connect to your local MCP server.

Connect to a Remote MCP Server

If you need to connect to a remote MCP server, update Claude's configuration file to point to your workers.dev URL (e.g., worker-name.account-name.workers.dev/sse), and then restart Claude:
