🚀 Weather Forecast MCP Server

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for retrieving weather information from around the world, implemented through the wttr.in service.

🚀 Quick Start

This MCP server offers tools to obtain the current weather conditions and multi-day weather forecasts. It can be easily integrated into MCP protocol - supported clients, including Claude and other large - language - model applications that support MCP.

📦 Installation

Install from pip

Use the uv command to install:

uv pip install weather-forecast-server

Or use pip:

pip install weather-forecast-server

Install from source code

git clone https://github.com/shibing624/mcp-server-weather.git
cd weather-forecast-server
pip install -e .

💻 Usage Examples

Python Example

from weather_forecast_server import get_weather
print(get_weather('baoding')) # Supports "baoding" or "保定"

Run as an independent MCP server

Run using the stdio transport method:

uvx weather-forecast-server

Or

uv run weather-forecast-server

Or

python -m weather_forecast_server

After that, you can use any MCP client that supports stdio transport.

Integrate into Cursor

To add the weather MCP server in Cursor, add an MCP of type stdio and run the command:

uv run weather-forecast-server

Available Tools

• get_weather - Retrieve the current weather conditions (up to 3 days) for a certain location.
