The Stock Price MCP Server is a tool designed to offer stock price information. It demonstrates how to build a fully - functional MCP server with various capabilities, such as getting current stock prices, retrieving historical stock data, comparing prices of different stocks, and exposing stock data through a resource interface.

Stock Price Retrieval

Get the latest stock price for any valid stock symbol. The server handles cases where the market is closed or the symbol is invalid.

Historical Data Access

Retrieve historical stock data in CSV format for different time periods (default is 1 month, but it can be customized).

Stock Comparison

Compare the prices of two different stocks with human - readable output.

Resource Exposure

Access stock information through the resource interface using the pattern stock://{symbol}.

📦 Installation

1. Clone this repository.
2. Install the required dependencies:

pip install -r requirements.txt

Basic Usage

Start the Server

Run the server:

python stock_price_server.py

Available Tools

The server provides the following tools:

1. get_stock_price(symbol): Returns the current price of the stock (in floating - point format).
2. get_stock_history(symbol, period): Returns historical stock data in CSV format.
3. compare_stocks(symbol1, symbol2): Compares the prices of two stocks.

Use Resources

Use the pattern stock://{symbol} to access stock information, which returns formatted price information.

Error Handling

All functions include robust error - handling mechanisms and return meaningful error messages when data retrieval fails:

• An invalid symbol returns an appropriate error message.
