🚀 DhanHQ Trading Assistant

An AI-driven trading assistant for the DhanHQ brokerage, built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This project enables natural language interaction with the DhanHQ trading platform, allowing you to place orders, view your portfolio, and manage your trading activities through simple conversational commands.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Python 3.8 or higher
• pip package manager
• A DhanHQ account and API credentials

Installation Steps

1. Clone this repository to your local machine:

git clone https://github.com/yourusername/dhanhq-trading-assistant.git
cd dhanhq-trading-assistant

2. Install the dependencies using pip:

pip install -r requirements.txt

3. Configure your DhanHQ API credentials. Create a config.ini file and add the following content:

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

• Check the current fund balance: /balance
• Query stock quotes: /quote TCS.NS
• Place an order to buy stocks: /buy HDFCBANK 10 shares at limit price 500
• Set a stop-loss order: /sell RELAXYES 5 lots with stop loss 20%

Advanced Usage

order_placement_tool.py

Handles regular market and limit orders, supporting both buy and sell operations.

super-order.py

Manages super orders with complex target and stop-loss conditions, supporting both percentage and fixed-price modes.

after_market_order_tool.py

Allows you to place orders after the market closes, ensuring execution at the next day's opening.

fund_balance_tool.py

Provides information on account funds, open positions, and available margin.

holdings_positions_tool.py

Displays current holdings, trading history, and allows for product type conversions.

margin_calculator_tool.py

Calculates margin requirements for different portfolios and generates reports.

order_book_tool.py

Accesses order history, pending orders, and completed trades, and supports order cancellation.

📚 Documentation

The project uses the stocks.json file to map stock names to their identifiers. The file structure is as follows:
