🚀 Ordnance Survey - MCP Server

A Python-based MCP server that provides access to the Ordnance Survey API.

🚀 Quick Start

This service bridges the gap between MCP clients and the OS API, simplifying the process of querying geographical data. You can easily access the complex OS GIS through standard protocols.

The service handles authentication, (basic) rate limiting, and offers a simplified interface to the complex OS API.

📦 Installation

Requirements

• Python 3.11+
• OS API key (set as the environment variable OS_API_KEY)
• You must register an Ordnance Survey data center account to obtain an API key
• Dependencies: aiohttp, mcp[cli]

Advanced Usage

Claude Desktop Integration

This MCP service has only been tested on Claude Desktop.

The goal is to make it compatible with various MCP hosts/clients, but it has not been tested yet.

When using it:

1. Ensure that Claude Desktop is configured to access local tools.
2. Once the service is running, it can be used as a tool.
3. No additional network configuration is required.

Available Tools

All of these are works in progress, but currently, the following tools are available:

• hello_world - Test connectivity
• check_api_key - Verify API key configuration
• list_collections - List available feature collections
• get_collection_info - Get detailed information about a specific collection
• get_collection_queryables - Get the filterable attributes of a collection
• search_features - Search for features that meet various conditions
• get_feature - Retrieve a specific feature by ID
• get_linked_identifiers - Find related identifiers
• get_bulk_features - Retrieve multiple features in a single call
• get_bulk_linked_features - Bulk retrieve linked features
• get_prompt_templates - Get standard prompt templates for common operations

Using Prompt Templates

This service provides pre-configured prompt templates to help you get started quickly.

To access these templates, ask Claude to "show available prompt templates".
