🚀 WeatherXM PRO MCP Server

A MCP server that implements the WeatherXM PRO API as an MCP tool, allowing clients to access weather station data, observations, and forecasts via the MCP protocol.

📦 Prerequisites

• Node.js and npm installed
• A valid WeatherXM PRO API key

🛠️ Configuration

Clone the repository to your local machine.

git clone https://github.com/WeatherXM/weatherxm-pro-mcp.git

📦 Installation

After cloning the repository, you need to install the dependencies and build the project to run the MCP server.

npm install
npm run build

💻 MCP Client Configuration

This is a common configuration for MCP clients (such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf Editor, VSCode, and plugins like RooCode and Cline).

Replace "path to mcp" with the actual path or package name of the MCP server, and replace "your-api-key" with your own WeatherXM PRO API key.

⚠️ Important Note

If you are already using other MCP servers, you can add it to the existing mcpServers object.

💻 Claude Desktop

Follow these steps to use the WeatherXM PRO MCP server in the Claude Desktop MCP client:

1. Edit the configuration file located at ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop.json.
2. Add or modify the weatherxm-pro entry in the mcpServers section, referring to the above JSON configuration.

💻 Cursor

Make the following settings in Cursor:

1. Open the terminal and run the following command:

   npm install weatherxm-pro-mcp --save-dev
   

2. Update the scripts section in package.json and add the startup command:

     "mcp-server": "weatherxm-pro-mcp start"
   }
   

3. Start the MCP server:

   npm run mcp-server
   

💻 Windsurf Editor

Configure Windsurf Editor as follows:

1. Download and install the latest version of Windsurf Editor.
2. Open the software and go to the settings menu.
3. Add a new server entry in the MCP servers section and enter the following information:
   • Name: weatherxm-pro
   • Type: MCP Server
   • Address: http://localhost:3000 (assuming the port is 3000)
4. Click Save and restart the software.

💻 VSCode

Make the following configuration in VSCode:

1. Install the extension "RooCode".
2. Open the settings (shortcut: Ctrl + ,).
3. Enter mcp.servers in the search bar and find the relevant setting item.
4. Add a new server entry:
   • Name: weatherxm-pro
   • Type: MCP Server
   • Location: http://localhost:3000
5. Click Save and reload the window.

🐳 Docker Configuration

To run the MCP server using Docker, execute the following commands:

docker build -t weatherxm-pro-mcp .
docker run -p 3000:3000 --env WEATHERXMPRO_API_KEY=your_api_key weatherxm-pro-mcp

🚧 Troubleshooting

1. Check the API key: Ensure that the environment variable WEATHERXMPRO_API_KEY is set correctly.
2. Port conflict: If there is a port conflict, try changing the port on which the server runs.
3. Dependency issues: Confirm that all npm packages are installed correctly. Run npm install again if necessary.
