An MCP server that uses Replicate to generate images and allows users to save these images.

📦 Installation

Claude Desktop

• On MacOS: ~/Library/Application\ Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
• On Windows: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

💻 Usage Examples

Once the server is running, you can:

1. Use the "generate-image" tool with a descriptive prompt to generate an image.
2. Use the "save-image" tool with the image URL and prompt to save the generated image.
3. Use the "list-saved-images" tool to view all saved images.
4. Access saved images through the resource list.

🔍 Resources

The server implements an image storage system with the following features:

• Access individual generated images using the custom image:// URI scheme.
• Each image resource has a name based on its prompt, a description containing the creation date, and the image/png media type.

📝 Prompts

The server provides a single prompt:

• generate-image: Used to generate images with Stable Diffusion.
  • An optional "style" parameter to control the image style (realistic/artistic/abstract).
  • Generate a prompt template with guiding statements based on the style.

🛠️ Tools

The server implements three tools:

• generate-image: Generate an image using Replicate's Stable Diffusion model.
  • Accepts "prompt" as a required string parameter.
  • Optional parameters include "negative_prompt", "width", "height", "num_inference_steps", and "guidance_scale".
  • Returns the generated image and its URL.
• save-image: Save the generated image to the local file system.
  • Accepts "image_url" and "prompt" as required string parameters.
  • Generate a unique ID for the image and save it to the "generated_images" directory.
• list-saved-images: List all saved images.
  • Returns a list of all saved images, their metadata, and thumbnails.

⚙️ Configuration

🔑 Replicate API Token

To use this image generator, you need a Replicate API Token:

1. Create an account on Replicate.
2. Get your API Token from https://replicate.com/account.
3. Create a .env file based on the provided .env.example template:

REPLICATE_API_TOKEN=your_replicate_api_token_here

⚠️ Important Note

The .env file is excluded from version control via .gitignore to prevent accidental exposure of your API Token. Never commit sensitive information to your repository.

🛠️ Environment Setup

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/yourusername/image-generator.git
cd image-generator

2. Create and activate a virtual environment:

# Use venv
python -m venv .venv
# On Windows
.venv\Scripts\activate
# On macOS/Linux
source .venv/bin/activate

3. Install dependencies:

pip install -r requirements.txt

4. Set up your .env file as described above.

🔧 Development

📦 Build and Publish

To prepare a distribution package:

1. Synchronize dependencies and update the lock file:

uv sync

2. Build the package release:

uv build

This will create source and wheel distributions in the dist/ directory.

3. Publish to PyPI:

uv publish

Note: You need to set your PyPI credentials via environment variables or command-line parameters:

• Token: --token or REPOSITORY_TOKEN
• Repository URL: --repository-url (default is https://upload.pypi.org/)

🐞 Debugging

To debug the image generator:

1. Run the server in the terminal.
2. Open http://localhost:8000 to access the MCP dashboard.
3. Interact with the "image-generator" service.
