🚀 ClaudeKeep - English Introduction

ClaudeKeep is an experimental project that uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to save and share your AI conversations with Claude Desktop.

It includes:

• An MCP server implementation that allows you to have Claude save your chat history.
• A web application that enables you to view private chat histories and browse public chat histories.

Warning - This is an Experiment

Please do not assume it is perfect or secure. Despite my testing, I cannot guarantee that all edge cases have been captured to ensure your chat content will not be leaked. It is recommended that you do not test with sensitive conversations.

🚀 Quick Start

How to Use?

1. Log in and Get a Token

Visit https://claudekeep.com and click Log In. This will attempt to log you in via GitHub OAuth. Currently, only GitHub is supported as an OAuth provider.

After logging in, you'll see a box containing a JWT token in the top right corner. Copy this token.

2. Configure Claude Desktop to Use the MCP Server

To use it in Claude Desktop, add the server configuration to the following files:

• MacOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
• Windows: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

Use the following configuration and then restart Claude Desktop (you must fully close it, e.g., using CMD+Q, and then restart):

Claude Desktop can be tricky when it comes to reading the PATH. Refer to MCP README for more details if the MCP server does not work properly.

3. Select MCP and Chat with Claude

After opening Claude Desktop, there is a small paperclip icon. Hover over it, and a plug icon will appear in the top right corner. Click it and select claudekeep-mcp under default. This will attach the default prompt to Claude.

Now chat with Claude as usual.

Each message you enter will trigger the store_message tool. This stores the message locally in Claude Desktop.

When you want to save the chat history, simply ask Claude to run the save_chat tool. By default, chats are always saved privately. If you want to make the chat public directly, inform Claude when requesting to save it.

For example (note that Claude is an LLM that understands natural language, and you can make requests in any way, and it will try to do the right thing):

Update the Token

If you accidentally leak your token, click the refresh icon next to the token after logging in. A warning will appear, and click the confirmation button to generate a new token. The old token will be destroyed and cannot be recovered.

Note: Your chat history is stored in association with your GitHub account. So, although public chats are anonymous to other users, they are not completely anonymous on the server side.
