🚀 Dynamics 365 MCP Server

The Microsoft Dynamics 365 MCP Server is an MCP server implemented based on Anthropic's Model Context Protocol (MCP). It allows users to interact with Microsoft Dynamics 365 through the MCP protocol, offering functions such as retrieving user information, accounts, opportunities associated with specified accounts, and creating and updating accounts from Claude Desktop.

This project uses the @modelcontextprotocol/sdk library to implement the MCP server and tools, and integrates the Dynamics 365 API for data operations.

🚀 Quick Start

Prerequisites 🛠️

Before you start, make sure the following conditions are met:

• Install the latest version of Node.js (it is recommended to use v16 or higher).
• Install Yarn or NPM (for package management).
• Configure a valid Dynamics 365 instance with the necessary API access permissions.

Configuration Steps

1. Clone the Repository

Use the following command to clone this repository to your local machine:

git clone [your-repository-url]
cd dynamics-365-mcp-server

2. Install Dependencies

Run the following command to install the required dependencies: If you use Yarn:

yarn install

If you use NPM:

npm install

3. Configure Environment Variables

Create a .env file in the project root directory and fill in the following content, ensuring that all fields match your Dynamics 365 instance:

DYNAMICS_365_URL=https://your-dynamics-365-endpoint
CLIENT_ID=your-client-id
CLIENT_SECRET=your-client-secret
TENANT_ID=your-tenant-id

4. Compile TypeScript Files (Optional)

If you want to generate JavaScript files, run the following command:

yarn build

Or

npm run build

5. Run the Server

Use the following command to start the server:

yarn start

Or

npm start

By default, the server will run on http://localhost:3000.

Optional Step: Integration with Claude Desktop

To integrate this server with Claude Desktop, follow these steps:

1. Install Claude CLI

Run the following command in the terminal:

pip install claude-cli

2. Register the Server

In Claude Desktop, navigate to the "Connections" menu and add a new MCP server. Configure the required endpoints and other parameters.

🔧 Technical Details

Debugging 🐛

If you encounter problems, check the following:

• Ensure that the .env file is correctly configured.
• Ensure that the Azure AD application has the necessary permissions to access the Dynamics 365 API.
• Ensure that your environment can access the Dynamics 365 instance.

You can also add debug logs in the code to track issues. For example:
