🚀 Fused MCP Agent: Setup of the Data MCP Server

The MCP server enables LLMs like Claude to make HTTP requests, allowing them to connect to APIs and execute code. We've created this repository so that we and anyone dealing with data can directly pass any Python code to your local Claude application.

This repository provides a simple step-by-step notebook workflow for setting up the MCP server for the Claude desktop application using Python on top of Fused User-Defined Functions (UDFs).

📦 Installation

• Clone this repository in any local directory and navigate to it:

  git clone https://github.com/fusedio/fused-mcp.git
  cd fused-mcp
  

• Install the dependencies:

  pip install -r requirements.txt
  

🚀 Quick Start

1. Configure the Claude desktop application:
   • Open the Claude desktop application.
   • Go to settings and find the MCP server integration section.
   • Add a new MCP server and specify its command and parameters.
2. Register and install:
   • Create an account in the Anthropic console and obtain an API key.
   • Install the necessary dependencies, including the uv tool.
3. Start the MCP server:

   uv run main.py --agent get_current_time
   

4. Use the local client (optional):
   • If you don't have the Claude desktop application, you can start the local client in another terminal session:

     uv run client.py http://localhost:8080/sse
     

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

Prerequisites

• Python 3.11
• The latest installed Claude desktop application (macOS and Windows).

If you're using Linux, the desktop application is not available. So, we provide a simple setup method for the local Claude client that can run without the Claude desktop application!

You don't need a Fused account to do any of the above! Everything runs on your local machine.

Advanced Usage

Using the local Claude client without the Claude desktop application

If you can't install the Claude desktop application (e.g., on Linux), we offer a small example local client interface to use the MCP server configured in this repository:

⚠️ Important Note

In this case, you need an Anthropic API key because the Claude desktop application won't be used.

• Create an Anthropic console account.
• Obtain an Anthropic API key.
• Create a .env file:

  touch .env
  

• Add your API key to the .env file:

  # .env
  ANTHROPIC_API_KEY = "your-key-here"
  

• Start the MCP server:

  uv run main.py --agent get_current_time
  

• Start the local client in another terminal session, specifying the server address:

  uv run client.py http://localhost:8080/sse
  

Through the above steps, you can easily configure and use the MCP server to interact with Claude.
