This is a server based on the MCP protocol, which can be installed and configured via GitHub or Smithery.ai. It allows Claude Desktop and the GitHub Copilot plugin for VS Code to invoke the Azure CLI to perform cloud operations.

📦 Installation

Deploy with Docker

Prerequisites

• Operating System: Linux, macOS, or Windows (Linux is recommended).
• Docker is installed and running.
• A stable network connection (access to the international internet is required).

Installation Steps

1. Pull the Image

docker pull ghcr.io/jdubois/azure-cli-mcp:latest

2. Start the Container

docker run -it --rm ghcr.io/jdubois/azure-cli-mcp:latest

3. Configure Environment Variables Set the AZURE_CREDENTIALS environment variable inside the container. Refer to the official documentation for detailed operations.

Install with Java

Prerequisites

• Operating System: Linux, macOS, or Windows.
• Java 17 or a higher version is installed (check with java -version).
• The Azure CLI is installed and authenticated (log in via az login).

Download the Server

Use the GitHub CLI to download the latest version:

gh release download --repo jdubois/azure-cli-mcp --pattern='azure-cli-mcp.jar'

Start the Server

Locate the path of the downloaded JAR file and execute the following command to start the server:

java -jar /path/to/azure-cli-mcp.jar

2. Open the command palette and select MCP: Add Server.
