🚀 Patent Snapshot MCP Server

This MCP server is designed to collect patent-related data from PatSnap's API for trend analysis and reporting. It is not intended for individual investigations of specific patents.

This server provides a convenient way to interact with PatSnap's API for patent data collection.

✨ Features

The server offers the following tools to interact with the PatSnap Insights API:

• get_patent_trends: Analyze trends in annual patent applications and grants. Understand patent trends related to specific technology fields or keywords. At least one of the keywords or International Patent Classification (IPC) codes must be provided.
• get_word_cloud: Get a snapshot of the most frequently occurring keywords/phrases in the last 5,000 published patents. Identify common terms to refine search criteria. Returns up to 100 keywords. At least one of the keywords or IPC codes must be provided.
• get_wheel_of_innovation: Provide a hierarchical view of keywords/phrases in the technology field. Identify common terms and their associations. Based on the last 5,000 published patents. At least one of the keywords or IPC codes must be provided.
• get_most_cited_patents: View the top patents most cited by others, indicating influential core technologies. Returns up to 10 patents. Note: The search must include either keywords or IPC. If both are provided, the IPC will be used first.
• get_top_authorities_of_origin: Return the top priority countries (authorities) that are the main sources of patents matching the criteria. Analyze the main priority filing locations. At least one of the keywords or IPC codes must be provided.
• get_top_inventors: Display the top inventors in the technology field. Evaluate top performers or identify potential recruits. Returns up to 10 inventors. Note: The search must include either keywords or IPC. If both are provided, the IPC will be used first.
• get_top_assignees: Display the top companies (assignees) with the largest patent portfolios. Identify major players and competitive threats. Returns up to 10 assignees. Note: The search must include either keywords or IPC. If both are provided, the IPC will be used first.
• get_simple_legal_status: Provide a breakdown of the simple legal status (e.g., active, expired, pending) of patents. Understand the proportion of currently valid patents. Note: The search must include either keywords or IPC. If both are provided, the IPC will be used first.
• get_most_litigated_patents: Identify the patents involved in the most litigation cases, indicating potential risks. Returns the top 10 patents sorted by the number of litigations. Note: The search must include either keywords or IPC. If both are provided, the IPC will be used first.

📦 Installation

1. Clone the repository.
2. Install dependencies using npm install.
3. Build the project using npm run build.
4. Start the server using npm start.

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

• Use the provided tools to interact with PatSnap's API.
• Ensure you have valid PatSnap API credentials (client ID and secret) set as environment variables (PATSNAP_CLIENT_ID, PATSNAP_CLIENT_SECRET).

Advanced Usage

To integrate this MCP server into your MCP host, add the following configuration to your cline_mcp_settings.json file (the path may vary depending on your host settings):

Make sure to replace "Replace with your PatSnap client ID" and "Replace with your PatSnap client secret" with your actual PatSnap API credentials. This configuration allows the MCP host to call the server using npx @kunihiros/patsnap-mcp.
