🚀 BnF API Server

This is an MCP (Model - Client - Protocol) server designed to access the Gallica API of the French National Library (BnF) and generate sequential research reports.

• Search in Gallica: Search for documents, images, maps, and other resources.
• Generate Sequential Reports: Automatically generate structured research reports on any topic.
• Integrate Graphics: Include relevant images and maps in the generated reports.
• Format Citations: Automatically generate correctly formatted bibliography citations.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Python 3.8 or higher
• Pip (Python package manager)

Installation Steps

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/votre-nom/mcp-bnf.git
   cd mcp-bnf
   

2. Install dependencies:

   pip install -r requirements.txt
   

Configuration with Claude Desktop

1. Install Claude Desktop if it's not already installed.
2. Open the configuration of Claude Desktop:
   • Access the settings of Claude Desktop.
   • Open the configuration file (usually located at %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json).

Replace chemin\\vers\\mcp-bnf with the actual installation path. 3. Save the configuration file and restart Claude Desktop.

💻 Available MCP Tools

After configuration, the following tools will be available in Claude Desktop:

Search in Gallica

Allows searching for documents in the Gallica digital library of the French National Library using different criteria (title, author, subject, date, document type).

Generate Sequential Reports

Create comprehensive research reports on any topic using sources from Gallica. Reports include:

• Formatted bibliography
• Introduction
• Historical background
• Analysis
• Conclusion
• Relevant images and maps (optional)

💻 Usage

After configuration, you can use Claude Desktop to ask Claude to perform the following operations using the BnF tools:

Basic Usage

1. Search for documents:
   • "Search for books by Victor Hugo in Gallica"
   • "Find maps of Paris from the 19th century"

Advanced Usage

2. Generate reports:
   • "Create a report on Impressionist art"
   • "Generate a report on the history of the French Mandate in Lebanon with images"
