📦 Installation

System Requirements

• Operating System: Supports Windows, Mac, and Linux.
• Python Version: 3.10 or higher.

Installation Steps

1. Install Python:

   • Download Link: python.org
   • Check "Add Python to PATH" during installation.

2. Install the uv Package Management Tool:

   curl -fsSL https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | bash  # Mac/Linux
   # Or on Windows:
   # curl.exe -fsSL https://astral.sh/uv/install.ps1 -o install.ps1; powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File install.ps1
   

3. Install Project Dependencies:

   uv pip install fastmcp httpx pydantic
   

4. Clone the Code Repository:

   git clone https://github.com/Aryan-Jhaveri/mcp-statcan.git
   cd mcp-statcan
   

Run the Project

# Start the server
uv run --with fastmcp --with httpx sh -c "cd mcp-statcan && python -m src.server"

📚 Documentation

Configure Claude Desktop

1. Edit the Configuration File:

   • Open the Claude desktop application and go to the settings interface (⌘ + ,).
   • Select "Edit Configuration" in the developer options.

2. Add Server Configuration: Replace /path/to/mcp-statcan with the actual project path:

Known Issues and Limitations

• SSL Verification: Currently disabled in the development environment; it is recommended to enable it in the production environment.
• Claude Behavior: There may be cases of loops or multiple REST calls.
• Data Verification: Cross - check the official Statistics Canada source data before use.
• Security Issues: Base on query verification to avoid processing untrusted input.
• Performance Limitations: Some interfaces may time out when handling large - data requests.
