What is Hello-MCP?
Hello-MCP is a simple implementation based on the Model Control Protocol (MCP). It allows users to interact with the server through the client and supports multiple functions such as viewing file lists and chatting. Both developers and ordinary users can easily get started. How to use Hello-MCP?
Hello-MCP can be run in two ways: standard input mode (stdio) or Server-Sent Events (SSE) mode. You can complete the installation and startup in just a few steps.Applicable Scenarios
Hello-MCP is suitable for learning the basic knowledge of the MCP protocol, building personal AI assistants, and performing simple file management and conversation exchanges.Main Features
Support for Registering MCP Servers
Hello-MCP supports registering MCP servers through both stdio and SSE methods.
Interactive Command-Line Chat Interface
Provides a friendly command-line interface for users to have real-time conversations with the server.
DeepSeek API Integration
Supports using the DeepSeek API for conversations. Users need to add their own API keys in the configuration file.
Streaming Response Output
Can receive and display the results returned by the server in real-time.
Advantages
Easy to install and use
Supports multiple communication protocols
Provides rich functional examples
Limitations
Currently only supports the DeepSeek API
Does not include general server functions and needs to be extended by yourself
How to Use
Clone the Project
First, make sure you have installed Git and clone the Hello-MCP repository to your local machine using the following command.
Initialize the Environment
Install the uv tool according to the official documentation and create a virtual environment to synchronize dependencies.
Configure the DeepSeek API Key
Copy the example configuration file and fill in your DeepSeek API key.
Start the Server
Select either stdio or SSE mode to start the server according to your needs.
Usage Examples
List Files in a Directory
Use the List_Dir tool to get all files in the specified path.
Have a Conversation with the Model
After configuring the DeepSeek API key, you can directly ask questions to the model.
