📦 Installation

1. Obtain a Linear API Token

You can use a development token or a personal API key.

Option 1: Development Token

1. Access Linear: Workspace Settings > API > OAuth Applications > Create or select an application (e.g., "testapp").
2. Go to https://your.linear.com/developer, find your new application, and copy its development token.

Option 2: Personal API Key

1. Access Linear: User Settings > API Access > Create a new personal access token.
2. Copy the generated token for subsequent configuration.

2. Configure the Cline MCP Server

Edit the ~/.config/lintrc.json file (create it if it doesn't exist) and add the following content:

3. Install the Plugin

Run the following command in Cline:

linx plugin add linear-mcp --url https://github.com/your-repository/linear-mcp.git

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

After installation, enter help in Cline to view available commands:

$ linx help linear

The output will display all commands related to the Linear integration, for example:

• linear issue create: Create a new issue.
• linear project list: List all projects.
• linear team members: Get the list of team members.

1. Clone the repository:

   cd linear-mcp
   

2. Install dependencies:

   npm install
   

3. Configure the development environment:

   • Copy .env.example to .env:

     cp .env.example .env
     

   • Update the configuration in the .env file, for example:

     LINEAR_ACCESS_TOKEN=your-linear-api-token
     

4. Develop and test:

   npm run dev
   # Or build and start the server
   npm run build && npm start
   

5. Before submitting your code, make sure to run tests using the following command:

   npm test
