🚀 Radio France Podcast Explorer MCP Server

A Model Control Protocol (MCP) server that enables AI assistants like Claude to search and explore Radio France's podcasts, audio replays, and other content.

• Search for podcasts and episodes by topic.
• Retrieve program information for specific Radio France TV channels.
• Browse content organized by classification (topic, category, tag).

📦 Requirements

• Python 3.7+
• Radio France API key (obtain from Radio France Open API)

📦 Installation

1. Clone this repository:

   git clone https://github.com/infinitimeless/radiofrance-podcast-explorer-mcp.git
   cd radiofrance-podcast-explorer-mcp
   

2. Create a virtual environment:

   python -m venv venv
   source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows: venv\Scripts\activate
   

3. Install dependencies:

   pip install -r requirements.txt
   

4. Create a .env file and add your Radio France API key:

   RADIOFRANCE_API_KEY=your_api_key_here
   

🧪 Testing

Before running the server, you can verify the installation and API key by running tests:

python run_tests.py

You can also run GraphQL schema tests to verify the API structure:

python tests/test_schema.py

🚀 Running the Server

python server.py

💻 Using with Claude Desktop

To use this server with Claude Desktop:

1. Open the file located at:
   • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
   • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
2. Add or update the server configuration:

3. Save the file and restart Claude Desktop.

🧑‍💻 Development Testing

You can test the server using the MCP Inspector:

npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector python server.py

This will open a web interface where you can test each tool of the server individually.

🔧 API Structure

The Radio France API uses a classification-based approach:

1. Classifications: Categories, tags, and topics used to organize content.
2. Diffusions: Content items (episodes, programs) associated with classifications.
3. Brands: Podcasts and series.
4. Grids: Schedules for TV channels.
