🚀 Model Context Protocol Project Introduction

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open - source project aiming to unify and simplify the interaction between large language models (LLMs) and external tools and services. Initiated by Anthropic and encouraging community contributions, it currently has multiple server implementations covering core functions such as file systems, Git version control, GitHub integration, and PostgreSQL databases.

🚀 Quick Start

Using the MCP Server in this Repository

For TypeScript - based implementations in this repository, you can directly use the npx command to run the server.

For example, to start the Memory server:

npx -y @modelcontextprotocol/server-memory

Python - based servers can be run using the uvx or pip commands. It is recommended to use uvx to simplify installation and configuration.

For example, to start the Git server:

# Using uvx
uvx mcp-server-git

# Using pip
pip install mcp-server-git
python -m mcp_server_git

Please follow these instructions to install uv/uvx and these instructions to install pip.

Using the MCP Client

However, running a server alone doesn't make much sense. You should configure it in the MCP client. For example, the following configuration for Claude Desktop is used to call the above server:
