🚀 .cursor Directory README

This directory contains configuration files specifically designed for the Cursor IDE environment in the career-agent project.

🚀 Quick Start

Structure

• rules/: Contains authoritative rule files (.mdc) that define the behavior, knowledge of AI agents (such as career agents and developer agents), and general workflow settings.
  • Note: Since there may be potential issues with directly editing .mdc files through AI, these files should not be directly modified by AI agents or manually unless absolutely necessary.
  • rules/agents/: Contains specific system prompt files for different AI agent roles.
• rules_md/: Contains editable Markdown (.md) versions of the rule files in the rules/ directory. This is the primary location for editing rules.
  • The internal structure of rules_md/ is similar to that of rules/ (e.g., rules_md/agents/).
  • Filename convention: Note that .md files in rules_md/ use underscores (e.g., 1_career_agent.md), while the corresponding authoritative .mdc files in rules/ use hyphens (e.g., 1-career-agent.mdc).

Synchronization Workflow (.md -> .mdc)

1. Edit here: Make all rule changes in the .md files within the .cursor/rules_md/ directory.
2. Run the synchronization script: After editing any .md rule file, run the synchronization script from the project root directory:

python scripts/sync_rules.py

This script automatically copies the updated content of the .md files to the corresponding authoritative .mdc files and handles filename conversion (underscores to hyphens), ensuring that Cursor uses the latest version of the rules. 3. Avoid manual synchronization: This script replaces the previous need to manually copy and paste between .md and .mdc files.

Key Rule Files

• workflow.mdc / workflow.md: Defines the project's core principles, agent roles, communication protocols, and file management rules.
• communication-style-prefs.mdc / communication-style-prefs.md: Defines the style preferences for external communication drafts.
• agents/1-career-agent.mdc / agents/1_career_agent.md: The system prompt for the main career agent.
• agents/2-developer-agent.mdc / agents/2_developer_agent.md: The system prompt for the developer agent.

This README helps maintain clarity in managing Cursor rules within the project.
