What are Remote MCP Servers?

This is a solution based on Azure Functions that allows you to easily build and deploy custom remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to the cloud. MCP is a communication protocol for interaction and data exchange between models.

How to use Remote MCP Servers?

You can choose a template that suits your technology stack (such as C#, Python, or TypeScript), clone the code repository, run and debug it locally, and then deploy it to the Azure cloud using simple commands.

Use Cases

Suitable for scenarios that require a secure and scalable solution for communication between models, especially in distributed AI systems, microservice architectures, or AI applications that need cloud deployment.

Main Features

Multi-language Support
Provides implementation templates for multiple programming languages such as C# (.NET), Python, and TypeScript (Node.js).
Built-in Security
Uses keys and HTTPS to protect communication by default, and supports adding OAuth authentication through EasyAuth and API Management.
Network Isolation
Supports network isolation using VNET to enhance security.
APIM Integration
Optionally integrates with the API Management service to provide more powerful API gateway functions.
Advantages
Fast deployment - Deploy the MCP server to the cloud within minutes.
Flexible scaling - Based on Azure Functions, it can scale automatically according to the load.
Secure and reliable - Built-in multiple security mechanisms to protect your model communication.
Developer-friendly - Supports local debugging and multiple development languages.
Limitations
Requires an Azure account - An Azure subscription is required to deploy to the cloud.
Learning curve - Developers unfamiliar with Azure may need time to adapt.
Cost factor - Long-term operation may incur cloud service fees.

How to Use

Select a Language Template
Select a C#, Python, or TypeScript template according to your technology stack.
Local Development
Run and debug your MCP server on a local machine.
Deploy to the Cloud
Use the Azure Developer CLI to deploy the application to Azure.
Configure Security
Set up API keys or OAuth authentication to protect your MCP endpoints.

Usage Examples

Distributed AI System
Establish a secure communication channel between multiple AI models to coordinate data exchange and task allocation between models.
Model Service in Microservice Architecture
Deploy AI models as microservices and communicate with other services through the MCP protocol.
