🚀 Integration Guide

This guide provides a step-by-step process for integrating the Caiyun Weather API with Claude Desktop, including installation, configuration, and usage examples.

📦 Installation

⚠️ Important Note

Before you start, make sure you have obtained API access. You can apply for it at https://docs.caiyunapp.com/weather-api/.

First, install the uv tool.

MacOS/Linux

Configuration with Claude Desktop

Add the following content to the claude_desktop_config.json file. You can find the specific path via: Hamburger Menu -> File -> Settings -> Developer -> Edit Config.

Ask Claude a question about the weather, for example: "What's the current weather in Beijing?"

get_realtime_weather

Get real-time weather data for a specified location.

• Parameters:
  • lng: Longitude of the geographical location.
  • lat: Latitude of the geographical location.
• Returned Details:
  • Temperature
  • Humidity
  • Wind speed and direction
  • Precipitation intensity
  • Air quality indicators (PM2.5, PM10, O3, SO2, NO2, CO)
  • AQI (Chinese and US standards)
  • Living index (UV and comfort)

get_hourly_forecast

Get hourly weather forecasts for the next 72 hours.

• Parameters:
  • lng: Longitude of the geographical location.
  • lat: Latitude of the geographical location.
• Returned Details:
  • Temperature
  • Weather conditions
  • Precipitation probability
  • Wind speed and direction

get_weekly_forecast

Get daily weather forecasts for the next 7 days.

• Parameters:
  • lng: Longitude of the geographical location.
  • lat: Latitude of the geographical location.
• Returned Details:
  • Temperature range (min/max)
  • Weather conditions
  • Precipitation probability

get_historical_weather

Get historical weather data for the past 24 hours.

• Parameters:
  • lng: Longitude of the geographical location.
  • lat: Latitude of the geographical location.
• Returned Details:
  • Temperature
  • Weather conditions

get_weather_alerts

Get weather alert information for a specified location.

• Parameters:
  • lng: Longitude of the geographical location.
  • lat: Latitude of the geographical location.
• Returned Details:
  • Alert title
  • Alert code
  • Alert status
  • Alert description

All tools require the longitude and latitude of the geographical location as parameters and rely on a valid API token for invocation.
