MCP Enabled Pdf Reader

🚀 PDF Reader with MCP

The MCP (Model Context Protocol) server offers a tool named read_pdf for reading a single PDF document. This tool has been tested with Ollama on Claude Desktop and LibreChat. Although there's no limit on the size of the PDF file, the number of tokens passed to the model will be the bottleneck.

🚀 Quick Start

The read_pdf tool provided by the MCP server can be used to read PDF documents. However, note that the token limit of the model may affect the processing.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

Windows

1. Install Claude Desktop (or other MCP - supported AI tools):

   • Download Claude for Desktop.
   • Follow the current installation instructions: Installing Claude for Desktop.

2. Install Python 3.10 or higher:

   • Download the latest Python installer from python.org.
   • Run the installer and select "Add Python to PATH".
   • Open the command prompt and use python --version to verify the installation.

3. Install uv:

   • Open the command prompt as an administrator.
   • Run pip install --user uv.
   • Use uv --version to verify the installed version.

macOS

1. Install Claude Desktop (or other MCP - supported AI tools):

   • Download Claude for Desktop.
   • Follow the current installation instructions: Installing Claude for Desktop.

2. Install Python 3.10 or higher:

   • Use Homebrew: brew install python.
   • Use python3 --version to verify the installation.

3. Install uv:

   • Use Homebrew: brew install uv.
   • Or use: pip3 install --user uv.
   • Use uv --version to verify the installed version.
