🚀 TRAA MCP Server

TRAA MCP Server is a screen capture server based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It offers the capabilities to enumerate system screens and windows and capture screenshots. The server communicates with clients via the MCP protocol, supporting both Standard Input Output (stdio) and Server-Sent Events (SSE) transmission methods.

• Screen and Window Source Enumeration

  • List all available display devices in the system.
  • List all available windows in the system.
  • Each source includes ID, title, type (display/window), and location information.

• Screen Capture

  • Capture screenshots of specified display devices or windows.
  • Customize the screenshot size.
  • Support JPEG and PNG formats.
  • Configure image quality settings.
  • Automatically create directories for saving files.

🛠️ Tools

1. enum_screen_sources

   • Enumerate all available screen and window sources in the system and return a list of SimpleScreenSourceInfo.
   • Return type: list[SimpleScreenSourceInfo]

2. create_snapshot

   • Create a screenshot of the specified source ID and return it as an image.
   • Input parameters:
     • source_id: int (Source ID)
     • snapshot_size: tuple[int, int] (Screenshot size)
   • Return type: Image

3. save_snapshot

   • Save the screenshot of the specified source ID to a file.
   • Input parameters:
     • source_id: int (Source ID)
     • snapshot_size: tuple[int, int] (Screenshot size)
     • file_path: str (File path)
   • Return type: None

Configure the MCP Server

Configure in Claude Desktop or other AI agents:

Server Operation

The server supports two operation modes:

1. Standard Input Output mode (default):

uv run traa_mcp_server

2. SSE mode (with port specification):

uv run traa_mcp_server-sse --port 3001 (default)

Client Usage

The client provides an interactive command-line interface for easy access to server functions:

uv run traa_mcp_client

After startup, the client will display a list of all available tools. You can perform the following operations:

1. Use enum_screen_sources to view all available screen and window sources.
2. Use create_snapshot to capture screenshots and obtain image data.
3. Use save_snapshot to save screenshots of specified sources.

🖼️ Image Format Support

• The default format is JPEG, which has a smaller file size and is suitable for network transmission.
• PNG format is also supported, providing higher image quality.

⚠️ Important Note

• Automatically create the required directory structure in the save path.
• Ensure correct permissions for the configuration file and log path.
• Maintain a stable network connection between the server and the client.
