🚀 MCP - Code Guidance

mcp-code-guidance is a tutorial for learning the MCP and A2A protocols from scratch using the Python language. MCP (Model-Context Protocol) and A2A (Agent-to-Agent) are two important protocols in large model applications, focusing on the interaction between agents and external tools and the collaboration between agents respectively.

The MCP protocol is a protocol for the interaction between models and the external environment. It allows models to communicate with the external environment through APIs and obtain information from the external environment. The main features of the MCP protocol are:

• Supports multiple external environments, including text, images, audio, etc.
• Supports multiple models, including large models, small models, etc.

🛠️ Environment Requirements

• Python 3.10+

📦 Installation

Step 1: Install uv

• Installation command for uv

curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh

When the install.sh script is executed, it will download uv-aarch64-apple-darwin.tar.gz from github.com, extract it, and then install it. Due to the unstable network of github.com, you can download it manually. Here is a tip: you can start a local Python HTTP temporary service to support file downloading, and modify the download address in the install.sh script to the local service address.

python -m http.server 8181

You can refer to the adjusted shell script: Modified uv-install.sh

• Add the user's local bin directory to PATH

vi ~/.bash_profile
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
source ~/.bash_profile

Step 2: Initialize the project, taking mcp-server-01quickstart as an example

# Create a new project directory
uv init  mcp-server-01quickstart -p3.11 
cd mcp-server-01quickstart

# Create a virtual environment and activate it
uv venv
source .venv/bin/activate

# Install dependencies
uv add "mcp[cli]" httpx

# Create our service file
touch mcp-server-01quickstart.py
